    lindsay ann brashier

lindsay ann brashier was attending the first semester of her freshman year of college at the university of texas at austin on november 10, 1996, when a drunk driver tragically killed her.

she was majoring in molecular biology, as it was her goal and her passion upon graduation, to attend baylor college of medicine and become an orthopedic surgeon. she was a 1996 graduate of westbury high school in houston. while at westbury, she was president of the national honor society, president and vice-president of the english honor society, a member of the students for social responsibility, the math and science clubs, and many others.

in honor of the memory of this special young lady, and her quest for knowledge, a window of opportunity foundation established the lindsay ann brashier scholarship in 2002.

"i commend your philanthropic efforts and your commitment to make a difference.  through your provision of incentive awards and scholarships, you are highlighting to all texans across our great land the importance of stepping up to the plate of tomorrow's texas.  you are helping to blaze an unquestionable trail of success and all texans owe you an overwhelming debt of gratitude."

rick perry,

governor of texas -

october 1st 2001 to present

"i applaud the important contributions the window of opportunity foundation has made to the houston community since 1996.  you are impacting the lives and livelihoods of generations of students and their families. i encourage you to move forward with courage in your quest to see that children have the opportunity to realize their dreams of a college education, and i look forward to working with you and your fine group for many years to come."

the scholarship, with a value of $4,000.00, is awarded each year to a graduating senior from lindsay's former school, westbury high school.  the scholarship is awarded to the student who demonstrates the same drive and passion as lindsay did.

thus far, six westbury high school seniors (since 2002)  have received the lindsay ann brashier scholarship.  we would like to give more scholarships in the memory of this outstanding young lady and to help many more deserving students fulfill their dreams.

with your help we can keep lindsay's honor and memory alive.  we will continue to help deserving students fulfill their dreams, just as lindsay so badly wanted to herself.

you may help make a contribution to the lindsay ann brashier scholarship fund for as little as a one-time gift of $10, $50, $100 or more!  your donation will allow us to serve more deserving students, in the memory of lindsay.
